Crowns can be made of Metal/Porcelain, Zirconium/Porcelain or pressed porcelain which are strong and most natural materials. We will prepare the tooth to the ideal shape,  take an impression (mould) of the prepared tooth & give to the dental technician along with an appropriate shade and other information needed. A temporary will be made so that ( mostly for aesthetic). The final restoration is back usually in one week time & will be fitted after you and your dentist are happy with the fit and appearance of it.

The dental hygienist carries out a professional scaling and polishing of teeth that includes the removal of plaque, stains and tartar deposits ensuring healthy teeth and gums. She will also advise you on how best to look after your teeth at home with instructions on brushing, the use of inter-dental brushes, flossing and dietary advice.

ProphyFlex Tooth Stain Removal in Angel, Islington, London

This treatment is primarily used to remove tooth stains built up on the teeth caused from tea, coffee, smoking, red wine and other food pigments which have been consumed over a long period of time.

Although this is not a tooth whitening treatment, many patients have commented on how much cleaner and whiter their teeth appeared after this treatment. It works by air, water and natural particles (Natrium bicarbonate) being projected at high pressure onto the tooth surface. Prophy flex cleaning is safe, quick and painless and can be performed by dentist or hygienist.

Partial dentures can sometimes move as gums change shape.
Securing the denture to an existing tooth can be the solution.
A stud can be fixed to an adjacent tooth.
The partial denture then ‘clicks’ onto this stud to secure it in place.

 In certain circumstances implants can be  placed in the hole left by the root immediately after an extraction which is called an Immediate Implant . An Immediate Implant can be fitted from start to finish in one appointment.

Usually implants need to integrate with the bone after they have been placed in bone. This takes at least 3-6 months and a second small surgery is necessary to fit the abutment and final crown.

 Who can benefit?

Just about anyone over the age of 18.  You don’t have to belong to a private plan. You don’t even have to be a regular visitor at this practice.

 What can I use them for?

You can use the payment plans to pay for most treatment, but they’re particularly suited to more costly private treatments such as cosmetic, aesthetic, orthodontic or dental implant work.  If you’re not sure whether they’re right for your treatment, please ask your clinician.

 How much can I borrow?

Dependent upon facility you can borrow typically between £1000 and £50,000.  This will be subject to an ‘on- site’ credit application.  Most patients’ applications are approved there and then, so you can go ahead and schedule treatment immediately.

 How do I make the repayments?

Much like any other loan facilities, you repay them in affordable monthly payments over an agreed term.  These payments are collected by Direct Debit.

 How much will I pay?

With our 0% APR Representative facility you pay the cost of your treatment – no more and no less.  Interest-free means just that!  In terms of the low cost facilities, we provide you with a quotation that shows the monthly payment and the total interest payable over the term of the loan.  There are no hidden costs and no deposit is required!

What are the repayment terms?

Your designated members of the practice team will be able to go through the various terms with you and agree the most suitable repayment period.

 How do I apply?

Once you’ve agreed on a course of treatment – and a cost – with your clinician, we’ll make the credit application on your behalf.  As soon as this has been approved and then processed, you’ll receive written confirmation from the credit provider.  Simple as that!

 Who is the credit provider?

We’re working with one of the most respected credit providers in the business.  Ask our team for details.

 What happens if my treatment costs more than planned for?

Firstly, we will tell you of this situation when it becomes imminent. Secondly, you can choose to have an additional facility to cover the additional costs.

What happens if my treatment costs less than planned for?

This will be refunded either to you or to the lender who will then reduce the outstanding balance on your account.

 How often can I use the facility?

You can apply for a payment plan for each course of treatment, subject to the usual credit application.

We try to make payment as straightforward as possible. Our patients are asked to pay a proportion of treatment’s cost at each visit and the balance on completion. Excellent quality of work, Dr Amin is great and takes time to explain all the procedures and options which gave me choice over what treatment was best for me. He was friendly and clear about the work that needed to be carried out and also proposed options that I had not considered so all in all I was very happy with it. The work quality was excellent, the caps look perfect with the rest of my teeth and look so natural that people didn’t notice until i told them. They have this machine that makes the cap in house so I was able to have a perfect tooth within 2 hrs without having to wait for the usual week where they send the cast out for another practice to create the teeth. I even got to watch as the tooth was being prepared. I would not hesitate to recommend them, great customer service, great advise, great dental work and they came in at just about the same price as any other dental practice. They have various options for financing and take dental insurance too so I was able to do everything i needed in one go.

Quality Excellent

Having spent a great deal of money over the years on my teeth with results that were less than satisfactory I finally decided to do something about it. Dr Amin had a big task ahead and a fussy patient. Dr Amin is so professional and very thorough in his work. He is very clear about the costs involved and always consulted with me before proceeding. Dr Amin went above and beyond to make sure I was completely happy in the end. The staff are very friendly and the facilities are immaculate. I am now so confident to smile, my old dark unmatched front crown is nowhere in sight and I have lovely white healthy teeth. Quality Excellent

I came to Angel Smile after a series of disastrous NHS dentists had man-handled my poor teeth. I had to have immediate care to attend to an extremely painful tooth that turned out to need a double root canal after a previous mistreated filling. Dr Amin was fantastic – very knowledgeable, attentive and experienced, and carried out a fantastic root canal and crown treatment for me. My tooth looks amazing now, and I can eat and drink cold and hot foods again! Since my first appointment, I have been back to get a treatment plan set out to correct some other issues with my teeth, and am confident in a year or so I’ll have a Hollywood smile that will be healthy for the rest of my life. Having spent many years at the dentist in my younger years, having braces and all manner of fillings (I liked sugary Ribena!) I had almost had enough of dentists altogether. Now, however, I can’t wait to have the rest of my treatments, and although they are a lot more expensive than the NHS, I wouldn’t go anywhere else – because Dr Amin is second to none. Your teeth are so important – why would you not get the best?

Quality Excellent

Dr Amenien did a brilliant job at providing me with a dental crown when I had a fractured tooth. I couldn’t believe that the tooth looks 100% real and haven’t given me any problems since. Amin’s assistants were professional and also made me feel welcome and at ease. It was a really good experience after being so worried about my broken tooth. Now that I know they have a 24 hour dental Crown service, I know who I’ll go to whenever I need another crown or any dental work done.

41 Islington High Street has been an established dental practice in Islington, London for more than 72 years. Despite its narrow stairs it was a dental practice for a wide spectrum of loyal patients in Angel and Islington area who returned to the practice time and time again. Many are now returning to be treated by the current new owners.

In 1938 Dr Edward a German dentist started practicing here and provided care for more than 26 years until Dr Rifkin (a specialist in pediatric dentistry) took the practice over in1964 and practiced until retirement in 2008. Dr Winter was other dentist who practiced here for 6 years.

In 1998, Dr Berlin a specialist Orthodontist started work alongside Dr Rifkin and treated his patients under the banner: “Angel Orthodontic, Centre for the Perfect Straight Smile” which become the main provider of orthodontic service for the Primary Care Trust in the Angel area until his retirement on July 2010.

Following the retirement of Dr Berlin in July 2010  the premises were taken over by Dr Amin Amenien (Angel Smile Dental Care) and Dr Fariba Banaie (Angel Orthodontics). After refurbishment and modernization of the Islington Dental Practice we are proud to be able to offer a wide range of modern general and specialist dental care.

The gap left by a missing tooth can mean greater strain is put on adjacent tooth either side.

The teeth next to the space can lean into the gap or the tooth on the opposite jaw may get longer and alter the way the upper and lower teeth bite together. These also can lead to food getting packed into the gap, which causes both decay and gum disease.

Dentine hypersensitivity is sensation felt when the nerves inside the dentin of the teeth are exposed to the environment. The sensation can range from irritation all the way to intense, shooting pain. This sensitivity can be caused by several factors, including wear, decaying teeth or exposed tooth roots. The effects of gum disease can lower the gumline and expose the roots. This will in turn expose the dentine of the root which contains the tubules leading directly to the nerve. Hot, cold, air pressure, drying, sometimes sweet foods can cause pain. A special paste is available that can be applied to provide some relief from this condition.

Another option is an adhesive bridge. This has wings that are bonded to the back of the supporting teeth with very little drilling involved. Bridges are only possible if you have enough strong teeth with good bone support. We will help you decide which one is the best way of replacing missing teeth. A tongue cleaner (also called a tongue scraper or tongue brush) is an oral hygiene device designed to clean the bacterial build-up, food debris, fungi, and dead cells from the surface of the tongue. 85% of bad breath originates in the mouth, most of which comes from the tongue. Stagnating plaque bacteria and food debris can give off an offensive odour.

Dentures should be cleaned thoroughly …
… either with warm water or a specialist denture toothpaste.
Shake off excess water.

… however, using too much fixative may result in ‘oozing’.
Using smaller amounts may provide better adhesion.
The amount used will vary between dentures.
A good fixative applied in the morning should last all day!!

The TePe Proximal brush comes in 7 sizes for cleaning different sized spaces. Click the brush open to insert the head and click down to secure. Insert the head from the inside surfaces or outside surface of the teeth. Use daily to remove plaque and food debris from between the teeth. The brush is particularly useful for cleaning the back teeth.

Amalgam fillings in the lower jaw can often be seen when we talk or laugh.
But amalgam fillings can also sometimes be seen in the upper jaw.
These can be unsightly and can also discolour the tooth.
Composite (White) fillings are available to improve this.

A Compact Tuft Brush or an end-tufted brush is a type of toothbrush used specifically for cleaning along the gumline adjacent to the teeth. The bristles are usually shaped in a pointed arrow pattern to allow closer adaptation to the gums. An end-tufted brush is ideal for cleaning specific difficult-to-reach areas, such as between crowns, bridgework , partially errupted teeth and crowded teeth.

Gingivitis (“inflammation of the gum tissue”) is a term used to describe non-destructive gum disease. The most common form of gingivitis is in response to bacterial plaque adherent to tooth surfaces, termed plaque-induced gingivitis, and is the most common form of periodontal disease. In the absence of treatment, gingivitis may progress to periodontitis, which is a destructive form of periodontal disease. While in some sites or individuals, gingivitis never progresses to periodontitis, data indicates that periodontitis is always preceded by gingivitis. The symptoms of gingivitis are somewhat non-specific and manifest in the gum tissue as the classic signs of inflammation: Swollen gums, Bright red or purple gums and Gums that are tender or painful to the touch.

Periodontitis is a set of inflammatory diseases affecting the periodontium, i.e., the tissues that surround and support the teeth. Periodontitis involves progressive loss of the alveolar bone around the teeth, and if left untreated, can lead to the loosening and subsequent loss of teeth. Periodontitis is caused by microorganisms that adhere to and grow on the tooth’s surfaces, along with an overly aggressive immune response against these microorganisms. A diagnosis of periodontitis is established by inspecting the soft gum tissues around the teeth with a probe (i.e. a clinical exam) and by evaluating the patient’s x-ray films (i.e. a radiographic exam), to determine the amount of bone loss around the teeth.

In this animation You see a healthy tooth at first. When Plaque builds up, gum and bone may begin to recede. Sometimes the gum recedes with the bone and sometimes it doesn’t. Either way the tooth may become mobile.

Home whitening of teeth using ‘trays’:
Impressions are taken from which study models and custom made trays will be made.
The Technisian paints it with a special material which increases the thickness of the tooth area. When the tray is prepared, a small pocket is produced.
The whitening gel occupies this pocket ensuring that it only comes into contact with the required surfaces and that no damage is done to soft tissue.

Following placing an implant it can be some months before the new tooth is fitted. A temporary denture can be made for cosmetic purposes within this time however the impact of opposit jaw by biting can disturb the implant and affect the healing process.
As an alternative an adhesive bridge can be made which is fixed to the adjacent tooth & provides a tiny gap between the temporary tooth and the new implant.

Your Implants can serve you for years if you keep your mouth healthy and take care of your Implants. Just like your natural teeth, you shoukd brush after every meal. Your dentist might have special instructions for the healing period after your implants are in place, but after that you will be able to brush as normal. A small tooth brush or interdental brush can be used to clean the Abutments. Use superfloss to clean around your gums, abutments and prosthetic teeth.

Consider the following five tips on brushing your dental implants.

1. Use a Soft Brush: Use a soft toothbrush with a bent handle so you can reach around your implants or use an electric toothbrush.
2. Floss Around Abutments: Use dental floss to get around the implants as well as between your normal teeth. This is where bacteria will build up and generate plaque, reducing the tenacity of your implants and perhaps causing too much wear and tear.
3. Brush at an Angle: Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle so you get the gum line as well as the teeth and implant surfaces.
4. Ease Up: It is not necessary to bear down on your toothbrush when brushing dental implants. Keep the pressure light as you glide the brush over the surface. You may also use an electric toothbrush that includes a pressure sensor.
5. Rinse Thoroughly: Until you get used to your dental implants, you might not be as likely to notice food particles remaining in your mouth after brushing. To ensure your mouth is completely clean, rinse thoroughly after every brushing.

Following the placement of an implant …
… it is important to keep the surrounding area clean.
Use a 45 degree angle as the standard brushing technique.
Use plastic coated interdental brushes for safe effective plaque removal.
Tightly floss approximal surfaces and implants.
Ensure all surfaces are clean.
Adapt floss/tape for teeth and gums.

Dental implants are small posts placed under the gum to work as the roots of missing teeth. A crown, or artificial tooth, is then fitted to match your teeth and mouth and improve your smile. An implant can replace one tooth or multiple teeth for a healthy smile that looks and feels natural. Implants are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment. Over 95 per cent of modern implants should last for many years with the right care.

An Implants can be placed only if the state of the bone (Quality & Quantity) in your jaw is reasonable. Your dentist will arrange for a number of tests and If he find out there is not enough, or if it is not healthy enough, it may not be possible to place implants without grafting bone (e.g. Sinus Lift) into the area first. This can be prevented in many cases by Ridge preservation & right techniques at the time of extraction which saves the bone from shrinkage & changes after an Extraction.

Placing of implants can be done using a simple local anaesthetic. You will not feel any pain at the time, but you may feel some discomfort during the week after the surgery. The implants need to integrate with the bone after they have been put in. This takes at least 3-6 months however sometimes the Implants are  stable enough & artificial teeth can be attached Immediately after placement (Immediate Implant)or much sooner.

In most cases a healing cap will be placed to protect the area during healing phase & an Implant temporary may be prepared to improve the aesthetic in form of a bridge or a denture.

Once the implant is integrated an abutment is fitted to hold the Crown. The abutment and the base of crown may be made of metal however to achieve a more natural look in certain light particularly in front teeth we recommend abutment & Crows made of solid porcelain (Implant Crown Options).

If you wear already a full dentures, then you can keep wearing this throughout the healing period once it has been modified after the surgery.

Single Crowns and Bridges retained by implants may only be placed and removed by the dentist, however, if you have complete dentures fixed to the implants by balls, locators or bars, then you’ll be able to take them out for cleaning.

Like any other restoration implants need right care and cleaning to last for many years. We recommend twice yearly checkups and hygienist sessions in addition to your daily routine care.(Implant Maintenance)

Procedure

If you have a missing front tooth, then a hole is prepared in the jaw bone in stages.
An Implant is fitted and a healing cap is inserted.
After the Implant has completely healed, the healing cap will be exposed and an abutment inserted.
A crown is then fitted to the abutment.

As you see in video the bone shrinks after an extraction. This shrinkage can be prevented or minimized in many cases by Ridge preservation & right techniques at the time of extraction which saves the bone from shrinkage and makes placing an implant easier without grafting techniques.

Teeth have a hard enamel surface. But poor oral hygiene can lead to a build-up of plaque which can lead to decay. When this starts on the chewing surfaces of the teeth it will be referred to as Occlusal Decay. If decay is left untreated the nerve of the tooth may become infected and die. This may cause an abscess.

Depending on the extent of the repair required …
… sometimes the full top surface of the tooth is removed.
A Full Onlay is then produced to replace the biting surface.

White Inlays & Onlays are lab made restoration and can be used when your tooth has been weakened by having a very large filling or extensive decay extending under one of the cusps.

Also it is indicated when you have a root filling that will need a crown to protect it also by a large mercury amalgam filling which you would like removed to improve the appearance of the tooth.

Inlays  were originally made of gold but in last 30 years  mostly made of tooth coloured materials. Zirconium/Porcelain or pressed porcelain are the strongest and most natural materials.

Resin based materials like Belle-Glass are a less expensive alternative but do not retain their appearance for so long.

We will prepare the tooth to the ideal shape,  take an impression (mould) of the prepared tooth & give to the dental technician along with an appropriate shade and other information needed. A temporary will be made so that ( mostly for aesthetic). The final restoration is back usually in one week time & will be fitted after you and your dentist are happy with the fit and appearance of it.

Root canal treatment is needed when the blood or nerve supply of the tooth( tooth pulp) is infected through decay or injury. You may complain of an existing pain or in early stage of infection even not feel any.

In some cases, your tooth could darken in colour (which may mean that the nerve of the tooth has died or is dying). The infection may spread through the root in bone & lead to an abscess if left untreated.

The aim of the treatment is to remove all infection from & fill the root canal to prevent any further infection, as a dead tooth is more brittle, it may be necessary to restore the tooth with a crown to provide extra support and strength to treated tooth.

Root canal treatment is routine but skilled and time-consuming procedure & in most cases will involve two ( or sometimes more) visits.

Root treatments on back teeth can be more complicated mostly because they have a number of roots & multiple canals.

A toothbrush adapter. It fits on manual brushes. Ideal for those with problems gripping and holding such as arthritis sufferers.

An interdental brush, also called an interproximal brush or a proxy brush, is a small brush, typically disposable and supplied with a reusable angled plastic handle, used for cleaning between teeth and between the wire of dental braces and the teeth. In this animation the TePe interdental brush is used to clean in between teeth. Turning the brush on insertion will help access. Used daily, it removes plaque and food debris where your usual brush cannot reach. For spaces at the back of the mouth, bend the brush in a slight curve but never at right angles, this will help you access the more difficult-to-reach areas. Intedental brushes are available in a range of widths. to help to clean different sized spaces.

Interspace Brushing

Periodontal disease causes pocketing around the necks of the teeth. Left undisturbed plaque bacteria thrive in these pockets causing the pockets to deepen. A standard toothbrush is not able to access these pockets. An Interspace brush can access these pockets and disrupt bacteria. Regular use will discourage disease-causing bacteria from accumulating.

Bruxism is characterized by the grinding of the teeth and is typically accompanied by the clenching of the jaw. It is an oral parafunctional activity that occurs in most humans at some time in their lives. In most people, bruxism is mild enough not to be a health problem. While bruxism may be a diurnal or nocturnal activity, it is bruxism during sleep that causes the majority of health issues and can even occur during short naps. Bruxism is one of the most common sleep disorders.
Grinding the teeth can cause wear. The canines and the front incisors wear first. The enamel can be lost exposing the soft dentine underneath.
Ongoing management of bruxism is based on minimizing the abrasion of tooth surfaces by the wearing of an acrylic dental guard, or splint, designed to the shape of an individual’s upper or lower teeth from a bite mold. A dental guard is typically worn on a long-term basis during every night’s sleep. Although mouthguards are a first response to bruxism, they do not in fact help cure it. Another type of device sometimes given to a bruxer is a repositioning splint. A repositioning splint may look similar to a traditional night guard, but is designed to change the occlusion, or bite, of the patient.

Teeth cleaning is part of oral hygiene and involves the removal of dental plaque from teeth with the intention of preventing cavities, gingivitis, and periodontal disease. Toothbrushes are available with different bristle textures, sizes and forms. Most dentists recommend using a toothbrush labelled “soft”, since firmer bristled toothbrushes can damage tooth enamel and irritate the gums. Use small circular movements with the brush held at 45 degrees to the tooth. Move systematically around the mouth. Remember to clean the inside surfaces and the biting surfaces. Dont forget behind the top and bottom teeth. A good technique will take 2 minutes.

Xerostomia is the medical term for the subjective complaint of dry mouth due to a lack of saliva.
Saliva is produced by the salivary glands in the mouth. It naturally protects the teeth, washing away plaque, debris and neutralising acid. A reduction or absence of saliva can be caused by a number of factors. Reduced saliva flow can lead to more plaque and debris build up which can increase the liklihood of dental disease such as bad breath and a dramatic rise in the number of cavities, as the protective effect of saliva’s remineralizing the enamel is no longer present, and can make the mucosa and periodontal tissue of the mouth more vulnerable to infection. It can also make eating, talking and wearing dentures uncomfortable. Xerostomia is also common in smokers. BioXtra has special products to help alleviate symptoms and provide care and comfort.

Dental floss is either a bundle of thin nylon filaments or a plastic ribbon used to remove food and dental plaque. Debris accumulates between the teeth. If not removed, bacteria will develop and plaque will form.The floss is gently inserted between the teeth and scraped along the teeth sides, especially close to the gums. Use the floss with a back and forth motion and with a vertical action until all the plaque is removed. Work the floss gently under the gum. Dental floss may be flavored or unflavored, and waxed or unwaxed. Flossing in combination with toothbrushing can prevent gum disease, bad breath, and dental caries.

Mouthwash or mouth rinse is a product used to enhance oral hygiene. Some manufacturers of mouthwash claim that antiseptic and anti-plaque mouth rinse kill the bacterial plaque causing caries, gingivitis, and bad breath. Plaque build-up can lead to inflamed gums. A mouth rinse can help by removing the plaque and reducing the inflammation. Anti-cavity mouth rinse uses fluoride to protect against tooth decay. Mouthwash does not eliminate the need for both brushing and flossing.
