Dental Bridges

A dental bridge uses adjacent teeth as anchors to support a prosthetic tooth that fills the gap.

Partial Dentures:

A removable appliance that can replace one or more missing teeth, using a gum-coloured base attached to a plastic tooth.

Resin-Bonded Bridge:

A less invasive option than traditional bridges, this involves attaching a false tooth directly to the adjacent teeth with resin.

No Replacement

Opting not to replace a missing tooth, although this can lead to shifting of adjacent teeth , bone loss, and potential other oral health issues over time.

Pros and Cons

Dental Bridges

Pro: Provides a fixed solution that feels stable and looks natural.

Con: Requires shaving of adjacent teeth, which can affect their long-term health.

Partial Dentures

Pro: Less invasive and more affordable than other options; easy to adjust and repair.

Con: removable , less stable than fixed options, requiring adjustments for comfort.

Resin-Bonded Bridge

Pro: Minimally invasive compared to traditional bridges; does not significantly alter adjacent teeth.

Con: Less durable than bridges and dental implants; mostly as long term Provisionals,  Are not suitable for all locations in the mouth.

No Replacement

Pro: No immediate cost or procedure required.

Con: Risk of adjacent teeth shifting, potential for bite and jaw problems, and possible bone loss where the tooth is missing.

implant solution for multiple missing teeth

For those missing a few teeth, we offers a sleek solution: implant-supported bridges. Rather than replacing each tooth with an individual implant, we can restore short spans of missing teeth efficiently with a bridge anchored on just two or three implants. This method not only provides a stable and natural-looking restoration but also preserves surrounding healthy teeth and supports overall oral health. A typical example includes replacing three missing teeth with a two-implant-supported bridge, combining durability, aesthetics, and the preservation of oral integrity in one efficient treatment.

Replacing Multiple Teeth by Implants

Dental implants can be used to replace multiple lost teeth. In fact, dental implants are routinely used to replace individual missing teeth, as well as numerous missing teeth in a row or even a full arch of missing teeth.

The number of dental implants needed will be determined by the number and location of the lost teeth, as well as the state of the jawbone. A bridge supported by dental implants may be indicated if you have few missing teeth in a row. More dental implants may be inserted to support individual dental crowns if you have several lost teeth throughout your mouth.

It’s crucial to understand that having dental implants can take few weeks or months and multiple appointments with a Implant surgeon.

Dental implants are small fixtures placed under the gum to work as the roots of a missing tooth. A crown or artificial tooth is then fitted to match the rest of your teeth and improve your smile and bite. An implant can replace one tooth or multiple teeth for a healthy smile that looks and feels natural. Implants are a well-established, tried-and-tested treatment. Over 95 per cent of modern implants should last for over 10 years under the right care.

There are few options to replace missing teeth:

-Implants

-Bridges

-Dentures

In some cases, small gaps could be closed using braces instead of a tooth replacement.

The implants are made of a variety of materials but most commonly from  titanium. Titanium is biocompatible with the jawbone and can be placed using a simple local anaesthetic. You will not feel any pain at the time, but you may feel some discomfort during the day or days after surgery. The implants need to integrate with the bone after they have been inserted. This takes usually  2-6 months, however sometimes the Implants are stable enough & artificial teeth can be attached immediately after placement (Immediate Implant).

In most cases a healing cap will be placed to protect the implant during healing phase & also contour the gum.

Once the implant is integrated, an abutment is fitted to hold the crown. The abutment and the base of the crown may be made of metal, however, to achieve a more natural look in particularly with the front teeth we recommend abutment & crowns made of solid porcelain (Implant Crown Options).

Like any other tooth restoration implants need the right care and cleaning to last for many years. We recommend twice yearly check-ups and hygienist sessions in addition to your daily routine care.

If you wear full dentures, then you can keep wearing these throughout the healing period once it has been modified after surgery.

Single Crowns and Bridges retained by implants will be fixed and only be placed and removed by the dentist. However, if you have a complete denture which is fixed to the implants (balls, locators or bars) then you’ll be able to take them out for cleaning.

All on 4 ( or all on 6 depends on clinical need) is a modern tooth replacement concept that we are specialised in. A fixed cosmetic dental bridge will be placed on 4-6 implants. The prosthesis is fixed and look like natural teeth.

In contrast to dentures which may move when chewing or become loose, fixed bridge is attached to implants, wont move and provides you with the confidence you deserve by eating and speaking.

All on 4 implants

The implants may be even angled at 30 to 450 to avoid nerves or sinuses. The all-on-4 implants have earned a nickname” teeth for a day” as the entire surgery process can be carried out within a day. Toothless individuals or those with hopeless teeth could benefit from fixed bridge retained on implants and enjoy a new gleaming smile.

In certain conditions  an implant can be placed in the hole left by the root directly after extraction. This is called an Immediate Implant. Dr. Amin Amenien is provider of  the German-based NDI (Natural Dental Implants) AG, that has introduced the revolutionary method of immediate implants called REPLICATE (Immediate Tooth Replacement System 2.0). Usually implants need to be integrated with the bone after they have been placed. This takes at least 3-6 months and a second small surgery is necessary to fit the abutment and final crown.
What is an implant
Replicate Immediate Tooth Replacement – how it works? The innovative Replicate tooth replacement system works quite quick in comparison to conventional dental implants. In a typical Replicate implant process for replacing the missing tooth the procedure steps are:
  • Imaging: At your initial appointment with our dentist, a digital three-dimensional X-ray is taken. From this individual impression, the replica of your teeth will be constructed.
  • Extraction and replacement: During your second appointment, the original tooth that is extracted or is already missing is replaced with the Replicate tooth. To ensure a secure healing process, a protective, temporary crown is bonded with the adjacent tooth.
  • Recovery: The new Replicate tooth implant requires around three to six months of healing while becoming embedded in the jawbones. You will receive in-depth instructions about the overall oral hygiene as well as diet and care during this time.
  • Finalized permanent crown: The dental protective crown is carefully removed and replaced with the final permanent replicate crown. This dental crown for your tooth has been coloured to match your surrounding teeth for a natural look.
How much will the Replicate Tooth Replacement cost you? The overall price of the Replicate system for missing teeth or damaged teeth will be based on the type of treatment you will receive. In most cases, the overall cost of the Replicate system for tooth replacement is comparable to the overall cost of the conventional dental implant procedure. Our dental implant experts can advise you better after your dental assessment.

Unless there are systemic contraindications and subject to bone availability, there is the chance to replace teeth with implants.

Implants can be placed only if the state of the bone (Quality & Quantity) in the jaw is reasonable. Your dentist will assess your mouth and if he finds out there is not enough bone, or if it is not healthy enough, the implant placement will be subject to additional process such as  Guided Tissue Regeneration, Bone Grafting , Sinus Lift, Connective Tissue Graft, Ridge Expansion etc.

Most of these procedures could be prevented by Ridge preservation &utilizing right technique at the time of extraction, which saves the bone from damage, shrinkage & changes after an Extraction.

Bone Changes After Extraction.

As you see in the video the bone shrinks after an extraction. This shrinkage can be prevented or minimized in many cases by Ridge preservation and the  right technique  at the time of extraction as stated earlier, which saves the bone from shrinkage and makes placing an implant easier without grafting techniques.

Ridge Preservation

Once a tooth is lost, the bone and gum will begin to recede. If you later decide to have an Implant fitted it may mean that the Implant would sit too high or the Crown would sit too low without a bone graft. This can be prevented in many cases by Ridge preservation & right techniques at the time of extraction which minimize the bone shrinkage & changes after an Extraction.

Solutions available when all teeth are missing or loose and hopeless:

-A fixed bridge can be attached to 4/6  Implants placed in the jaw. (all on 4/all on 6)

-A removable denture made & fixed by 2-4 Implants to your jaw.

-A conventional denture without any fixation element to the jaw.

PROBLEM

The bone surrounding the tooth recedes in the weeks and months after removal.
